A Denim Bag Christmas
Christmas is a time to be with friends and family. Being single, it is awesome to go home, get all the hugs you can handle, eat some home cooking and spend Christmas with the people you love.
Many families have rituals for Christmas and mine is no exception. After the Christmas eve services at church, we used to ride around and look at the lights. This is always fun to do. I love the lights, especially the multi-colored trashy lights. The more the merrier.!
One of our Christmas rituals is the passing of the denim bag. The denim bag ritual is one that has been repeated for more than 15 years. While Mel and I are opening gifts, one of us (usually her) is the lucky one that opens the their package and finds the denim bag inside. It is actually a cute bag, but the first time Mel got is, she sat there and cried. I was about 12 or so and thought her reaction was hilarious!!!
It has become a joke and every year when that present is unwrapped and the denim bag is discovered, we just laugh, laugh, laugh.
Ok, some rituals are kind of stupid, but just remember why we celebrate Christmas, the true meaning of Christmas. I wouldn't trade that denim bag for anything, then again, maybe I would. :)
